Doctor of Chiropractic
We spend part of our day in treatments and part of our day running the business. We love working this way because chiropractic treatment is physical work and this way all our patients only see us at our very best; full of beans!
During a typical work day you may find me in treatment with a client, prepping for a session, writing up patient notes, catching up on admin, designing our marketing or behind the reception desk (with a cuppa!).
It was my mother's holistic approach to healthcare and her background in physiotherapy that led me to a career as a chiropractor. I always knew that I wanted to do something that was hands on and that I could really help people.
I trained at the chiropractic college which is based in sunny Bournemouth. Chiropractic is a degree course, I studied for 4 years, 3 of those in training and the final year as an intern in the student clinic. Rob and I met in our first year of training together. It was when I was studing for my degree that I developed my interest in treating pregnant women. Whilst there I conducted my own research study surrounding exercise during pregnancy and explored local women's attitudes and opinions. I find anatomy and the physiology of the human body fascinating so I loved training. Being walking distance to the beach for 4 years was amazing.
After a few years Rob and I decided to make a big change, move back to Cirencester to be closer to family and set up our own practice; in 2014 Dyer St Chiropractic Clinic was born. We’ve gone from a team of two, to a team of fourteen and feel so grateful to be able to work alongside so many amazing experts all under one roof.
Rob and I designed our business so that we don't spend entire days seeing back to back patients. We spend part of our day in treatments and part of our day running our business. We love working this way because chiropractic treatment is physical work and this way all our patients only see us at our very best; full of energy! During a typical work day you may find me in treatment with a client, prepping for a session, writing up patient notes, catching up on admin, designing our marketing or behind the reception desk (with a cuppa!).
At the clinic we see patients daily who are in treatment for debilitating back pain, a slipped disc or severe nerve pain. These patients cannot bear to sit down or be standing up straight. I'll usually come out to greet them and find them limping around the room or leaning on the reception desk for support. One of the most inspiring moments of my day is to walk into reception and see one of these patients proudly sat down comfortably in a chair (and able to get back out of it again!). You'll know what I mean if you've been there...
Outside of work you’ll find me with my little boy Rex, Rob, Arlo our dog or with friends or family. We have family down the road and friends spread out everywhere so quite often we'll be off to visiting people over the weekends. In the summer months we love camping (only when the forecast is good though) and being by the sea. I'm also a fan of CrossFit and I'm currently trying to convince myself I like running.
