Chiropractor
I decided to train as a chiropractor after having chiropractic treatment for low back pain as a very active teenager. It helped me to maintain my training and sporting commitments. I was considering various healthcare degrees at the time and I felt that I had found the perfect career for me, which I still believe.
I trained in South Wales at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. I found the 4-year master's course to be very rewarding, despite frequent, challenging exams. I particularly enjoyed my final year treating patients on placement and doing my dissertation on low back pain. I was very pleasantly surprised to win the award for 'best research project' and to graduate with distinction. I will also forever be grateful for meeting so many wonderful friends whilst I was there.
It is rewarding to help anyone in pain/discomfort. I enjoy treating all of my patients and I take pride in personalising their treatment, employing a variety of techniques and offering every individual a specific rehab programme. I have also completed further training to treat pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy filling my free time by socialising with friends and family, playing hockey and netball, and watching other sports. I also enjoy baking, which motivates me to stay active!
