Children’s Physiotherapy | Cirencester
Paediatric Musculoskeletal & Neurodisability Physiotherapy

At Dyer St Clinic, we’re so excited to launch a specialised service all about helping children move, play, and live life to the fullest.
Our children’s physiotherapy service is led by Katharine who is specialised in supporting children and young people aged 0–19.
Whether your child has a developmental delay, a long-term condition or is recovering from an injury, we’ll work with you to start a therapy plan that’s practical, compassionate and grounded in what matters most to your family.

How We Can Help Your Child
We understand how worrying it can be when something doesn’t feel quite right with your child’s development. Our specialist team is here to support you through every step. Here are some of the concerns we regularly help with:
👶 Complications around birth – including difficult or early delivery
🩺 Concerns identified before birth – such as abnormalities picked up during pregnancy
🧠 Torticollis (head tilt or turning preference) and flat head shape (plagiocephaly)
🦶 Unusual foot positions – like positional talipes (feet turned in or out)
🧸 Muscle tone concerns – whether your baby feels unusually floppy or stiff when moving their arms or legs
🚼 Developmental delays – such as not rolling, sitting, crawling or walking when expected
🧬 Genetic conditions – including Down’s syndrome, Rett Syndrome, and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
🚶♂️ Walking pattern issues – like toe-walking, in-toeing, or walking that seems uneven or unsteady
⚖️ Balance and coordination problems – such as frequent falls, clumsiness, or difficulty keeping up with peers in physical activities
🧩 Neurological conditions – including Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, and Transverse Myelitis
🛠️ Ongoing support for long-term conditions – including help with building independence and navigating the transition from children’s to adult services
📝 Detailed assessment and reports – tailored for schools, healthcare teams, or onward referrals
📄 Supportive documentation for EHCP applications – including reports and recommendations that clearly outline your child’s physical needs and required support
💬 No concern is ever too small. If you’re unsure or worried, we’re here to listen, assess, and guide you through the next steps with compassion and clarity.
💬 With many years of experience working within the NHS, Katharine is very happy to offer co-management alongside your NHS paediatric physiotherapist. This can be a helpful option for parents who would like more regular or frequent appointments for their child while continuing with their existing NHS support.
How Do We Help?
(aka “What does physio for kids actually look like?”)
Paediatric physiotherapy isn’t just exercises, it’s about helping your child move, play, grow, and thrive. We use fun, movement-based approaches tailored to your child’s needs and age, all designed to help them reach their potential.
Here’s how we do it:
🧸 Play-Based Therapy
Children learn best through play — and physio is no different! We turn therapy into games and challenges that build strength, coordination, and confidence. Whether it’s crawling through tunnels, balancing on wobble boards, or jumping onto coloured targets, your child will be having fun while making progress.
🏃 Movement & Mobility Exercises
We help improve strength, balance, and flexibility using guided exercises. From rolling and sitting to walking, climbing, and skipping — every movement is part of a bigger journey toward independence.
🧠 Developmental Support
If your child is taking longer to reach milestones, we work gently and patiently to help them along. Our sessions are structured to support their stage of development, not just their age.
🦶 Posture & Walking Pattern Correction
We use a mix of hands-on guidance, stretches, and strengthening games to support your child’s walking pattern, whether it’s tiptoeing, in-toeing, or an uneven gait.
🧩 Condition-Specific Programs
For children with neurological, genetic, or long-term conditions, we create personalised programs that focus on what they can do, while helping them improve what’s difficult.
🎯 Goals-Based Plans
Everything we do is built around your child’s goals — whether that’s keeping up in PE, riding a bike, or simply walking with confidence. We regularly review progress and adapt along the way.
📄 Family Support & Home Plans
Parents and carers are a vital part of the process. We’ll show you how to support your child at home with simple, fun exercises — and give you the tools and confidence to help them flourish.

Why We’re Different
We know that when it comes to your child, you want more than just appointments. You want clear answers, practical support, and a plan that actually helps. That’s exactly what we aim to provide.
No pressure. No scare tactics.
We won’t talk you into unnecessary treatment or fill your calendar with endless appointments. You’ll get honest advice and care that makes sense.
More time, less stress.
Our sessions are longer than average, usually 30 minutes or more so there’s time to talk, ask questions, and make real progress. You won’t feel rushed or overlooked.
A clear plan you can follow.
Every session leaves you with something useful—whether that’s a home plan, strategies to try, or answers to questions you’ve had for weeks. You’ll leave feeling empowered, not overwhelmed.
Joined-up care, all in one place.
Our team includes physiotherapists, chiropractors, podiatrists, and more. We collaborate closely to provide your child with well-rounded, joined-up care that saves you time and confusion.
What we do is based on what works.
We stay up to date with the latest research and best practice. Our care is grounded in evidence, not outdated routines or fads.
We see the whole picture.
To us, your child isn’t just a diagnosis. We listen, we involve families, and we work together to find what’s best—because every child deserves to thrive, not just be treated.
