Post Surgical Rehabilitation
Recover Stronger, Move Confidently
Post Surgical Rehab
At Dyer St Clinic, we understand that surgery is just one part of your recovery journey. Our post-surgical rehabilitation helps you rebuild strength, restore movement, and get back to doing the things you love — safely and confidently.
What is it?
Post-surgical rehabilitation is a personalised program designed to help you recover after an operation. Whether you’ve had joint surgery or a replacement, a ligament repair, spinal surgery, or another procedure, rehab helps you reduce pain and swelling, regain mobility, rebuild strength, and improve your overall function.
It’s not just about healing, it’s about getting you back to your best
Why is it Important?
Optimises recovery: Guided rehab speeds up your recovery and reduces complications.
Restores strength and movement: We help you rebuild strength, flexibility, and balance safely.
Prevents long-term issues: A structured plan reduces the risk of stiffness, weakness, or reinjury.
Supports confidence and independence: Our goal is to help you return to life, work, or sport with confidence.

FAQ’s
Do you cover insurance?
All insuance policies vary greatly, some cover pilates. If in doubt please contact your insurance company to check the required process.
How many sessions will I need?
One we get asked a lot.
The honest answer is that “it depends” on a few factors, including the type of surgery you’ve had, your goals, and how your body responds to rehab. Some people go into surgery very fit, others less so. But to give you a ballpark:
Knee arthroscopy: Around 4–8 sessions over 6-12 weeks
ACL or Achillies reconstruction: Typically 16–24 sessions over 9-12 months
Total knee or hip replacement: Around 12–20 sessions, usually over 6-9 months
Shoulder surgery (e.g., rotator cuff repair): Often 8–12 sessions, spread across 4–5 months
- Fracture rehab ie ORIF: 4-8 sessions over 6-12 weeks (body part dependaant)
Appointment will be more frequent in the early stages, and gradually get further apart as you get closer to returning to full function
Will I see the same expert every time?
Yes, excluding extenuating circumstances once you are booked in with a practitioner you will stay with them for your course of treatment. If they feel your needs will be better suited with another practitioner this will be discussed with you.
What do I have to bring to my appointment?
We will need to know any previous surgery, illness, your past medical records as well as your current state of health including any medication you are taking. Any previous scans, surgical letters, X-rays, letters or investigations are always helpful. If you are intending to claim for treatment using private health insurance it is useful to bring the details with you also.
Bring any walking aids, braces or slings given to you too.
Wear anything thats comfortable, bearing in mind we will have to expose the body part in question to examine and check the scar for healing (esecially on the first visit)
