Who is

James Mason

BSc Hons
Sports Therapist and Sports Massage Therapist

Why did you decide to train as a Sports Therapist?

Having always been active and interested in how the body moves and recovers, I wanted a career where I could help others overcome injuries and return to the things they love. Seeing the difference that good rehab and treatment can make to someone’s daily life really inspired me to follow this path.

Where did you train and what was the course like?

I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Sports Therapy from the University of Worcester. The course was both academic and hands-on, covering areas such as injury assessments, manual therapy, rehabilitation, and biomechanics. I had the chance to work with athletes and clubs during my studies such as Swindon Town Football Club and the Men’s basketball team, which gave me valuable real-world experience.

Tell us about your career so far

Since qualifying, I’ve worked in both clinical and sports settings. I treat a wide range of clients, from everyday individuals managing work-related aches, to Olympic athletes recovering from injury. Alongside my work at Dyer St Clinic, I run my own practice and also provide first aid at Swindon Town Football Club. My focus is always on combining effective hands-on treatment with rehab that’s tailored and practical.

What will we find you doing outside of the clinic?

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active – whether that’s in the gym, playing sport, or getting outdoors (especially hiking).
