Laura is a dedicated chiropractor who qualified in 2012 and co-founded Dyer St Clinic with Rob in 2014. What began as a small husband-and-wife venture has grown into a successful and well-respected practice committed to outstanding patient care. Today, Laura balances time between hands-on patient treatment and the strategic management of the business.
Why did you decide to train as a chiropractor?
It was my mother’s holistic approach to healthcare and her background in physiotherapy that led me to a career as a chiropractor. I always knew that I wanted to do something that was hands on and that I could really help people. Having now been a chiropractor for 13 years, my favourite cases include chronic pain, headaches and upper or lower limb nerve pain. It’s an honour to have supported so many regular patients over the years working in Cirencester.
Tell us about your career so far?
My career as a chiropractor started as an associate and after a few years Rob and I decided to move back to Cirencester to be closer to family and set up our own practice. In 2014 Dyer St Clinic was born. We’ve gone from a team of 2, to a team of over 20 and feel so grateful to be able to work alongside so many brilliant experts all under one roof. Since qualifying I’ve completed further training in pregnancy and postpartum treatment, headaches and migraines and chronic pain.
What is your day to day role?
I’m incredibly lucky to be able to balance seeing a patient list, running Dyer St Clinic and looking after our two young children (and one very needy Cavachon!). In any one day I’ll usually be doing the school drop off, then seeing a list of patients and finally working on the behind the scenes of the business; meetings, marketing and reports. I probably spend far too much time making colour co-ordinated spreadsheets. I look after the incredible team we have here and Rob and I work on constantly trying to drive the clinic forward with new services for our patients.
What type of patient is the most rewarding?
At the clinic we see patients daily who are in treatment for debilitating back pain, a slipped disc or severe nerve pain. These patients cannot bear to sit down or be standing up straight. I’ll usually come out to greet them and find them limping around the room or leaning on the reception desk for support. One of the most inspiring moments of my day is to walk into reception and see one of these patients proudly sat down comfortably in a chair (and able to get back out of it again!). You’ll know what I mean if you’ve been there…
What will we find you doing outside of the clinic?
Outside of clinic you’ll find Rob and I with our children Rex and Lessie plus Arlo our dog. We love living in Cirencester and so spend time exploring outdoors, paddle boarding, running and dog walking. We have family down the road and friends spread out everywhere so quite often we’ll be hosting or off visiting people over the weekends. We love cooking great food and drinking far too much coffee. You’ll probably find us sneaking in some work over the weekends too!
